Hurry up and wait...

Today is the last day of april. I turned 28 this month. That is about all the good news. It has been a rough week, rough year. Winter has just not been my season. Maybe summer will be better. But maybe not. I will just keep my eye on the ball and settle for a single...even a walk. Go Astros.

LoneStarMusic.com

I just realized that Lone Star Music has my profile featured on Lone Star Nation, their online community. Wow, I am embarrassed a little - but very cool.

The other day I was tooling around google and found a pic of Bill Murray from the movie Stripes ... I think. Out of nowhere it dawned on my that it would make an awesome Lone Star Music icon. So there you have it.

People dig it I guess, hope they are buying all the CDs in my profile - I promise they are just as cool as the icon. Go check it out at LoneStarMusic.com/lsmcorral.asp (the link is to your right).

Checking in...

When I got this blog back up and rolling I really intended on posting often. Life has just been so busy with work and personal things. My laptop at work is crashing and I have been scrambling around to make meetings and deadlines. Our IT department is close to pronouncing it dead, however DELL is running a 6-week turnaround for new machines - thanks, DELL. Computers ... it really is a love/hate relationship.

Tonight I finished up a couple small things for Rolling Oaks in San Antonio - they are having their second annual Young Guns Rising Shrimp Fest on April 26th. There will be a ton of awesome bands there, like Bo Cox and Matt Begley & Bitter Whiskey. Head over to RollingOaksSA.com if you are in the SA area - it is a great time. Also, look for their banner ads and posters (what I was working on tonight) at LoneStarMusic.com.

Opportunity Cost

In one of the podcasts I am digging on these days there was a mention randomly about opportunity cost and it took me back to applied economics. It really made me think about all the little things lately.

For those that don't know exactly what opportunity cost is, think of trade-offs. A necessary evil I guess. In order to do whatever it is we are doing, we are actually giving up something else. Me writing this blog costs me sleep. No matter what time I go to bed, my alarm still goes off at 6am.

Maybe this is something we all realize, but I am not sure how much thought I gave to the idea before. Was everything I have ever done instead of something else a "good" trade? Scary thought.

Cameron and I were in the park yesterday playing on the big boy swings and for a moment I just leaned all the way back. I looked up and just watched the trees and clouds for a minute, thinking there was no other place in this world that I would rather be. Period.

Cameron - Walking with Dinosaurs

We took Cameron to Walking with Dinosaurs. It was actually very cool. He loved it and we went home broke. I got suckered into a light-up dino for when the lights went out. I figured maybe $8. More like $18 ... good times. His favorite part was when they ate the dead one - that's my boy.

This is Cameron at Walking with Dinosaurs ...

From Myspace

Well for those of you who know, it has been a hard couple of months and there are a lot of changes coming. You might need to re-introduce yourself to me ... that may be a little extreme, but I am not the same.

I have had a lot of time to sit and think and come up with new ideas and projects. There is a new album in the works and this time I won't be playing all the instruments, however interesting that was. But I am really digging the new stuff.

Got a ton of music business related things going on, figuring out some really cool ways to market and promote. Probably try and roll some of that out pretty soon with some of my buds. In the mean time be looking for me in all forms of social media (twitter, you tube, etc.). I may even start doing some pod casting.

I just wanted to drop a note for all of those that are asking / wondering where I have been ... I am alive. See you around.

It has been a while...

So, it is April 2008 - and I am getting back into this blog thing. I am basically beginning a dive into social media in order to get a better "grip" on new media marketing and advertising. When I was in college new media meant websites and banner ads. The innovation was in how to use flash and deliver dynamic content. OK. That seems old now.

What got me started on this adventure was C.C. Chapman's podcast, Managing the Gray - which I highly recommend (http://www.managingthegray.com/). All the technology out there blows my mind.

Anyway, I am just getting into it and have spent a ton of time just signing up all the accounts. But - as the days roll on I am hoping to get a good idea on what all is out there and how it can be used for all my future projects. Is the world really getting smaller?
